The graph of the cosecant function, f(x) = csc(x), has vertical asymptotes at integer multiples of which value?

Show answer

Pi (or 180 degrees)

Cosecant is the reciprocal of sine (1/sin). Since sine is zero at multiples of pi (..., -pi, 0, pi, 2pi, ...), the cosecant function is undefined and has vertical asymptotes at those points.

Also asked as:
  • The vertical asymptotes of the function f(x) = csc(x) occur at what recurring interval?
