The Komodo dragon is the world's largest living species of which type of reptile?

Lizard

Reaching lengths of up to 10 feet, the Komodo dragon is a member of the monitor lizard family and is found only on a few Indonesian islands. These apex predators are unique among lizards for using venomous glands to help incapacitate prey as large as deer or water buffalo. Their keen sense of smell allows them to detect a decaying carcass from several miles away.
