What is the standard period of the tangent function, f(x) = tan(x)?

Show answer

π (or 180 degrees)

Unlike sine and cosine, which have a period of 2π, the tangent function repeats every π units. This is because the ratio of sine to cosine returns to the same value after a half-rotation on the unit circle.
