The Great Dark Spot was an enormous storm system roughly the size of Earth, featuring the strongest winds ever recorded in the solar system. Unlike Jupiter's long-lasting Great Red Spot, Neptune's dark spots are transient and had completely vanished by the time the Hubble Space Telescope looked for it again in 1994.
