Where does photosynthesis occur in plant cells?
Show answer
Chloroplasts
Chloroplasts contain a green pigment called chlorophyll that captures light energy to convert water and carbon dioxide into food for the plant. Interestingly, scientists believe chloroplasts were once independent bacteria that were swallowed by larger cells billions of years ago.
