What does a seismometer record?
Show answer
Ground motion
A seismometer is a sensitive instrument used to detect and record vibrations caused by earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and even heavy traffic. These devices are so precise that they can detect ground motion as small as the diameter of an atom. By measuring these waves, scientists can determine the exact location and magnitude of seismic events happening thousands of miles away.
