What color is a giraffe's tongue, which helps protect it from sunburn while eating?

Blue or purple

The dark pigment, melanin, provides UV protection as the giraffe spends most of the day with its tongue extended to strip leaves from high branches. Their tongues are also prehensile and can be up to 20 inches long.
