Which country music legend and pioneer of the "Bakersfield Sound" wrote and recorded the 1969 hit "Okie from Muskogee"?

Merle Haggard

The song became an unexpected anthem for the "silent majority" during the Vietnam War era. Haggard was known for his "outlaw" image, partly fueled by his time served in San Quentin Prison.
