Which brass instrument uses a telescopic slide mechanism to change pitch?

Trombone

The trombone is the only modern orchestral brass instrument that uses a slide instead of valves to change the length of the tubing. This allows the player to perform a 'glissando,' a smooth, continuous slide between two different pitches.
