What test measures the electrical activity of the heart over a period of time using electrodes placed on the skin?

Show answer

Electrocardiogram (ECG)

An ECG (or EKG) works by placing electrodes on the skin to detect the tiny electrical impulses that trigger each heartbeat. Doctors look at the specific peaks and valleys on the graph, known as the P, QRS, and T waves, to ensure the heart's rhythm is healthy.
