In statistics, what is the term for the middle value in a list of numbers ordered from least to greatest?
Show answer
Median
Unlike the average (mean), the median is not affected by extremely high or low numbers, making it a better way to describe 'typical' values like household income. If there is an even number of values, the median is the average of the two middle numbers.
