Which 1832 Paris uprising forms the climax of Victor Hugo's 'Les Misérables'?
Show answer
The June Rebellion
The June Rebellion was an anti-monarchist insurrection sparked by the death of General Jean Maximilien Lamarque, a popular champion of the poor. Although Victor Hugo's novel immortalized the barricades, the real-life uprising lasted only two days and failed to overthrow the monarchy of King Louis-Philippe.
