What writing direction does Arabic use?
Show answer
right to left
Arabic is a 'semitic' language, and its right-to-left direction dates back to ancient times when scribes carved into stone using a hammer and chisel. Holding the chisel in the left hand and the hammer in the right made it more natural to progress from right to left.
