Which August 1944 event saw the French 2nd Armored Division and the U.S. 4th Infantry Division end four years of Nazi occupation in a major European capital?

Liberation of Paris

The liberation followed a week-long uprising by the French Resistance against the German garrison. General Charles de Gaulle famously led a victory march down the Champs-Élysées shortly after the German surrender.
