The United States Military Academy is located at what strategic plateau overlooking the Hudson River in New York?

West Point

Established in 1802, it is the oldest of the five U.S. service academies. West Point was strategically valuable because ships had to negotiate sharp bends, a narrow channel, swift currents, and difficult winds; George Washington considered it America's most important strategic position.
