What was the first movie released with a PG-13 rating?
Show answer
Red Dawn
The PG-13 rating was created in 1984 at the suggestion of Steven Spielberg, who felt a middle ground was needed between PG and R for movies with intense action. Red Dawn earned the distinction of being the first film released with this new classification. Interestingly, the film also held a Guinness World Record at the time for the highest rate of violence in a movie.
