Former drill instructor R. Lee Ermey gave a terrifyingly authentic performance as Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in which 1987 Stanley Kubrick war film?

Full Metal Jacket

Ermey was originally hired as a technical consultant but was cast after Kubrick saw a tape of him improvising insults. The film's first half is famous for its intense depiction of Marine Corps basic training during the Vietnam War.
